The HiD4 is an industry leading high-density, miniature shelf mount cassette for passive applications such as splitters or CWDM MUX and DEMUX applications. The miniature HiD4 footprint provides full functionality with up to 14 front facing LC/APC or LC/UPC ports and its mounting is compatible with LGX® shelves. At approximately 3″ deep, and half the width of a single LGX module, this package provides significantly improved port density when compared with conventional LGX cassettes. The cassette’s unique housing design and increased port count available on the front faceplate of the device allows for port groupings by function, such as; commons and upgrades, wavelength channels and test/monitoring ports providing added versatility for the network architecture.

The HiDT has redefined the industry standard for compact splice tray mounted passive multi-component modules. HiDT tray modules are designed to integrate directly onto the All Systems Broadband Universal Splice/Component Tray (UST) with no intermediate mounting fixtures. The HiDT housing allows for up to 14 fiber ports, all exiting one end of the package. Thermometrics CL Series of Inrush Current Limiting Thermistors consist of a disc thermistor with uninsulated lead-wires, and are used to control inrush current when switching power supplies. The main purpose of limiting inrush current is to prevent components in series with the input to the DC/DC convertor from being damaged. Typically, inrush protection prevents nuisance blowing of fuses or breakers as well as welding of switch contacts.
